In China, the largest market, sales reached 10.7 million vehicles which is an increase of 12.8% since the previous corresponding period in 2012.
This compares to growth in the USA of 7.6%, where sales reached 7.8 million vehicles.
The country with the greatest growth rate was Thailand, where 735,339 vehicles were sold which represents a 21.4% increase.
Growth of more than 10% was also experienced in the UK, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
