Smash repairers are seen as experts in the automotive industry and are influencing consumers when deciding which automotive brand to purchase. This market research reveals how frequently smash repairers influence the opinions of consumers and which manufacturers are recommended.

Which Automotive Manufacturers are Recommended?

Toyota obtained a significant share of recommendations from smash repairers, with 43% mentioning they would recommend Toyota to customers who are looking to buy a new vehicle. Ford, Holden and Mazda are the next most frequently recommended manufacturers, with each obtaining 14% of recommendations from smash repairers.

Methodology: A total of 237 smash repairers from paint and panel workshops across Australia participated in the research. To qualify, workshops need to repair 10 or more vehicles per month. Telephone interviews took place from 26th September to 5th October 2012. Data has been weighted by state to ensure the sample represents the population of smash repair businesses across Australia.
